Aflac Maternity Insurance Ending

I am sad this is ending, we have used it with our last two babies and it is nice to get that check.

AFLAC NO LONGER SELLING HOSPITAL INDEMNITY COVERAGE IN UTAH AFTER FEBRUARY 15, 2010
How does this affect you?

1. Are You Currently Covered by Aflac? – This change does not affect current policyholders in any way. However, after you have your baby you may want to keep your coverage if you are planning on more children in the future. Once you cancel your policy you will not be able to repurchase Aflac.

2. Are You Not Currently Covered by Aflac? – If you want to have more children in the future now is your final chance to buy Aflac.

3. Have You Recently Cancelled Aflac? – Again, if you want to have more children and cancelled your policy because you knew you could sign up again in the future … The future is now! Call us to reinstate your policy.

4. Do You Have Friends Who Are Not Done Having Kids? As always, we send $25 gift cards to Target for referrals!

5. Is this the end of Hospital Supplements forever? In a few months there might be a company that sells similar coverage so please continue to call and refer clients in case a new plan becomes available.

In order to sign up with Aflac you must meet with us in person.
We will be holding enrollment meetings daily.

Free Birthday Meals

Because it was my birthday last week I thought I would share this: http://www.mrcheapstuff.com/deals/2006/10/huge-list-of-restaurants-that-give-you-free-birthday-meals/

It will require you going to the various restaurants websites to sign up but free food seems to taste best!

Cheap Chicken

The SLC area Reams have boneless skinless chicken breasts on sale for $1.29 a pound (when you buy a 10 pound box) until Monday the 18th, that is a great deal! Plus while you are there check out their product department, several items are really cheap. And chicken is really easy to bottle if you dont have the freezer space for it.

Sugar

So the rumor out there is that the price of sugar will be drastically increasing this year. Maceys is having a good sale on sugar right now making it cheaper then Costco. I would buy some if I were you!

Winco!

We went to Winco for the first time tonight, overall I wasnt that impressed but there were two things I loved: the bulk food department and getting to bag my own groceries (which might be weird, but I like bagging). The bulk food department is amazing, all sorts of candy, spices, baking things, even pet food and the prices were really good on the bulk things too!

I did it!

There are times that I wonder if it is really worth it to take all the kids to the store at the same time to try to get some shopping done, most of the time Rob does our shopping or we all go together but I am trying to do a better job of doing it on my own. There are a couple of problems with this:

First: there isnt much room in the cart for the stuff since Zachary has to ride in the basket and Zander is in the kid seat of the cart and lets be honest Olivia isnt that much help holding onto the side of the cart. And then there is the issue of trying to go when everyone is well fed and well napped.

Second: I have issues giving coupons to the cashier, I have no problem finding the deals and gathering the coupons but the act of handing them to the cashier makes me nervous. I am getting better though.

With that all said, yesterday I took all three kids who hadnt napped to the library, Harmons, Albertsons, Reams, DI and after a brief stop at Auntie Jen's we all went to Babies R Us. And it wasnt that bad. We got some great deals, too!

Case Lot Sales

Its Case Lot time!! Not all the items are really on "sale" so buy what you need to stock up your shelves but there isnt any reason to go crazy spending money when you normally can get the items for the same price. I will be going to Harmons to buy Campbell's chicken noodle soup and Top Ramen and to Albertsons to buy peanut butter and Hamburger Helper (its Olivia's favorite meal) and then to Reams for some veggies today with all three kids, wish me luck!!

Earthquake

The little quake woke me up this morning, kinda a good wake up call that it could be much worse.

Six Topics

These are the topics that I will be hoping to cover this year:

January and February: Getting started on storage/preparedness
March and April: Building short term food storage
May and June: Non food items and water storage
July and August: Canning
September and October: Home production
November and December: Longer term food storage

New Year's Resolutions

Welcome! I am so glad you have joined us as we learn more about food storage and home production. What are your goals for this year for food storage or home production?

Some of mine are: bottle more of what we grow in our garden, build a useable food storage area, stock up on longer storing items, and to our increase water supply.
